Visit
There are many places to visit around
South Manchester and Cheshire however, I have tried to limit
the number to those either in Knutsford or within a twenty
mile radius of the town centre.

Located near Northwich in Cheshire, the Anderton Boat Lift
is one of the greatest monuments to Britain's last canal age
and known as the "Cathedral of the Canals". Built
in 1875 it was the world's first and is currently England's
only Boat Lift. Boat owners and visitors alike are able to
ride the Lift and the Operations Centre houses education and
visitor facilities - creating one of the region's most important
visitor attractions.

Arley is a place of enormous character, charm and interest.

The Cuckooland Museum would like to welcome you to be astonished
at the variety, quality and ingenuity associated with the
ancient craft of cuckoo clock making. The museum’s collection
is regarded as the most important of its type in Britain,
Europe and the rest of the world.
The collection has been brought together by brothers Roman
and Maz Piekarski who, as foremost horologists and clock restorers,
have sought and renovated the rarest and most notable examples
over careers of thirty years.

Manchester United F.C. play at the Old Trafford stadium in
Greater Manchester. They are the most popular football club
in the world, with over 50 million supporters worldwide. Average
attendances at the club have been higher than any other team
in English football for all but six seasons since 1964-65.
The club is also one of the most successful in English football;
for over twenty years, since the 1986-87 season, they have
won 18 major honours, which is more than any other Premier
League club. They have won the Premier League/Football League
16 times. In 1968, they became the first English club to win
the European Cup, beating S.L. Benfica 4–1, and they
won a second European Cup in 1999. They also hold the record
for the most FA Cup titles with 11.

Tabley House was designed by John Carr of York for Sir Peter
Byrne Leicester, Bt., and completed ca.1767.With its nine-bay
central block facing south, flanked by pavilions and quadrant
passages set well back and splendid Doric portico reached
by curved stairs, Tabley is the only 18th century Palladian
country house in Cheshire.

A day at Tatton Park has much to offer. Its two historic
houses, the Mansion and Tudor Old Hall, are set in 1000 acres
of beautiful parkland with lakes, tree-lined avenues and herds
of red and fallow deer. Award-winning gardens, a working farm,

complete the picture.
